Scottish Junior Cup

-

The region’s challenge in this season’s Scottish Junior Cup has ended.

Blairgowrie, Letham and Scone Thistle were all defeated at the second round hurdle on Saturday.

For Blairgowrie, their test was always going to be a difficult one against Benburb at Davie Park.

And so it proved with the visitors running out 7-1 winners. Matty Adam was on the scoresheet for Blair.

It was an agonising end to the afternoon for Letham at Seven Acres, as they lost out on penalties to Muirkirk.

Mark Shaw had opened the scoring before the side from Ayrshire struck twice to take the lead in the second half.

Defender Benn Blyth dramatically levelled the game at 2-2 in the 90th minute but Muirkirk would move on to advance on penalties.

Scone Thistle ventured west to play Glasgow Perthshire and lost out 4-1.

The Jags’goal was scored by Matthew Cullerton.
