Calendar showcasing Perthshire wildlife will boost PADS

- STEWART MCCONNELL

Stunning views of Perthshire landmarks and a fascinating range of wildlife images are being showcased in a calendar which is being produced and sold for the first time to help support a deserving cause.

Dog lover Marysia Macfarlane and friend Fiona Loudon Steele came up with the idea of producing a calendar to help raise money for Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society (PADS) in Forteviot.

Fiona has designed the publication, the photos of which have come from Marysia’s group, Pictures of Perth and Beyond.

The Facebook group, established in 2016, has just under 6000 members and this will be the first time they have produced a calendar.

Marysia, who owns a mixed Labrador Springer Spaniel Cross, said: “We have quite a few members who post pictures around Perth and wildlife and we decided to do a calendar for PADS, who have a shelter and look after dogs really well in the community.

“In the calendar there are views around Perth and also wildlife like kingfishers, squirrels, minks and that kind of thing.

“We only started the calendar at the end of August, which is a short turnaround. The demand for it so far is amazing.”

Marysia added:“We want to raise just over £4000 for PADS and we are doing this because everybody loves dogs.

“They have a rescue shelter and find loving homes and comfort for them. They have a small hospital unit.

“Hopefully people will respond and help a really good cause. People who took the winning photos selected for the calendar will not have to pay.”

The calendar was set to be available from last Thursday and has been sponsored by MC Roofing and Chas

Stewart Plumbing and Heating Services.

Stockists are the McCash Country Store, Perth Museum, the Three

Witches Tea Room in Blairgowrie and the Glover Arms. Alternatively people can private message Marysia or Fiona via Facebook.
