I don’t think turbines can be called ‘green’

Blue bin policy is just useless

World famous Scottish cyclist Danny MacAskill (right) peddled along the blade of a wind turbine to raise awareness of green energy, ahead of the COP26 conference.

It is a pity that he did not raise awareness of the tonnes of greenhouse gases emissions created in their manufacture, shipping and erection which will take years to recover.

No mention of all the millions of birds, bats and the insects they feed on being killed.

No mention that constraint payments for the 8400 turbines in Scotland, made when their electricity is not wanted, is now over £1 billion and is added to our electricity bills.

No mention that the gigantic blade he cycled along cannot be recycled and ends up in landfill.

Turbines are certainly not green.

Brexitisadisater

Amid the flurry of facts and figures relating to the Budget, what has maybe not received the attention it deserves is the frightening impact of Brexit on the economy.

According to the independent Office for Budget Responsibility, the impact of Brexit will be worse in the long run compared to the coronavirus pandemic.

It has been estimated that leaving the EU will reduce the UK’s potential economic output by about four per cent in the long term, with forecasts indicating the pandemic will reduce output by a further two per cent.

It appears that, as many of us warned, far from being a “dividend” as we were promised, Brexit is proving to be an unmitigated disaster.

I was just reading an article about blue bins not being emptied within Perth and Kinross.

I haven’t had my blue bins emptied twice in a row now, the first time due to passersby putting food waste in my bins and the second time because the bin men claimed there was food in my bins and after checking there was only paper recyclable wrapping and other recyclable items.

Perth and Kinross Council claim the bin men will knock on doors and notify us but they don’t, yet there are other people down my street that put all sorts in their bins and still get them emptied.

I’m a mum of four children with a child who is disabled and receives a lot of equipment deliveries which come in boxes which I’m having to put in my green bin as my blue doesn’t get emptied.

PKC are useless in many aspects.
