Letham captain out after suffering fracture
Losing captain Sean Ferrie to injury will be a big loss for Letham.
But assistant manager Sean Whitworth also knows it’s an opportunity for someone else to step up to the plate.
The central midfielder fractured a bone in his eye socket in last weekend’s 4-2 defeat at Carnoustie Panmure.
A trip to the hospital was required and it was confirmed he will now be absent for a period of time.
“Fez took a really sore one against Carnoustie,”Whitworth said.
“It was a brave challenge to go in for, with both players fully committed, but it was a really sickening head clash.
“Unfortunately he has a fractured bone in his eye socket, so will be out of action for a period of time.
“He was delighted he managed to get a goal assist out of the collision though!
“He will be a loss and his injury adds to our already big list of lengthy injuries we have suffered this season.
“But we’ve had a lot of rotation in the squad recently for one reason or another and have good depth.
“Everyone has had good playing time. It’s another opportunity for someone to come in and hold down the position.”
Attention has quickly turned to tomorrow’s league test, with Tayport making the trip through to Seven Acres.
Whitworth said:“Tayport are one of the form teams in the league after having a change in management, though they will be disappointed with their result against Kirrie last week.
“Our last game against Tayport away from home was a close affair and we really should have taken something out of the game.”
Blairgowrie manager Mark Brash has provided an update on midfielder Liam McPherson, who was seriously injured in last week’s game with Dundee North End. The game was abandoned.
“It’s a real bad one for Liam,”said Brash. “As well as dislocating his elbow and shoulder, he also has a fractured shoulder.
“His season is probably over and, obviously, everyone is gutted for him.”
Blairgowrie are on home soil tomorrow and welcome Forfar United to Davie Park (2.30pm).
Elsewhere in the Midlands League, Coupar Angus, who had their game postponed last week, return to home soil keen to build on a promising revival under new co-managers Del Mitchell and Jonathan Smart.
An entertaining afternoon of football is expected at Foxhall Park when Lochee United come calling for a 2.30pm start.
Scone Thistle, after being edged out 1-0 by Forfar West End last Saturday, travel to ArbroathVics.
