St Johnstone WFC will be boosted by the return of a number of key players for this weekend’s SWPL2 fixture.

Among those missing for the recent 1-0 Queen’s Park defeat were Ellie-May Cowie, Morgan Steedman, Alix Moodie, Nicole Carter and Leia Glading.

But head coach Grant Scott will look at a greater squad list for the visit of secondplaced Boroughmuir Thistle on Sunday.

“Everybody is back and available this week,” he said.

“Without looking for excuses, last week was definitely more difficult with the players we had missing.

“The performance wasn’t great last weekend.

“We’ve been pretty consistent with our team selection, bar alternating two or three tactical things.”

Scott, of course, is looking for his side to bounce back from last week’s disappointing defeat.

Saints picked up a point away at Boroughmuir earlier in the campaign - and that should provide confidence.

“We’d had three victories in a row so we were massively disappointed with the Queen’s Park result,” Scott said. “But this game is a good one to bounce back again.

“Boroughmuir will be clear favourites – they are flying just now. We played them a few weeks ago and it was a great result for us.

“From the second half, we felt we were perhaps worthy of more than just a draw.

“We will try to replicate the performance at the weekend.”

The Perth side sit fourth in the SWPL2 – eight points behind Boroughmuir in second and Scott noted: “After the start we had, what the players have gone on to achieve is really good.

“But that doesn’t stop us from wanting more. It’s still quite tight in the league.

“You could just about put a blanket over ourselves, Boroughmuir, Glasgow and Kilmarnock.

“We’re obviously trying to pick up as many points as we can – and we’ll see where that takes us.”
