Big stretch to aid Ukrainians
A yoga class in Aberfeldy sent positive energy - and close to £800- to a fund which is helping Ukrainians fleeing the war to settle in the town.
On Wednesday, April 20 four Aberfeldybased yoga teachers taught a two-hour class in the town hall to raise funds to support Ukrainians families and children who are now living in the community.
The special yoga gathering was well attended with 35 people coming to stretch and balance during a two-hour session.
Four teachers took 30 minutes each, delivering four different styles of yoga.
Tina Logan warmed everyone up with a gentle‘Hatha’practice.
Emma Burtles then led a stimulating ‘vinyasa flow’, synchronising breath and movement.
Fi Lumsden taught a deeply relaxing‘yin’ style practice with passive poses working deep into muscle tissues.
Sarah Beth Hunt closed the evening with some ancient breath techniques and meditation which encouraged participants to reflect on the things in their lives they are grateful for.
The people who came along made whatever donation they wanted. So far, the total given is a tremendous £791.80.
Tina Logan said:“It was a wonderful opportunity to bring Aberfeldy yoga community together, to make a difference and to help others. Anyone who wishes to make a late donation can do so at the (shortened) link below for Highland Perthshire Welcomes Ukraine.” https://bit.ly/3OAKsjD
So far this appeal has raised £2,625 of a £5,000 goal, aiming to ensure Ukrainian refugees have a welcome to the area where dozens of people have opened up their homes to provide shelter for the next year.
