Brash:we deservedto takepoints

-

Delighted Blairgowrie boss Mark Brash felt three points were exactly what his players deserved from Saturday’s Perthshire derby win against Scone Thistle.

The Davie Park hosts had trailed 2-0 in the Midlands League fixture following goals from Ally Alcorn and Paul Leask.

But with 25 minutes remaining the revival began, kick-started by a finish from Cammy Mcmanus.

Matty Adam then levelled proceedings in the 77th minute before, with time running short, James Simpson sparked the celebratory scenes with a late winner.

“The performance throughout was fantastic,”said Blairgowrie manager Brash.“and a performance that we have seen before.

“However, we got our just rewards this time. The boys kept believing and this was the main factor in getting the result.

“At 2-0 down against the run of play we kept believing and got exactly what we deserved.”

Brash hopes that the comeback three point haul can spark a strong run for the remainder of the campaign.

He said:“we hope to end the season on a high and add a few additions for next season that will see us at the correct end of the table.”

Letham, who have been going well this season, added another three points to their Midlands League total on Saturday.

They too were required to come from behind when basement boys Brechin Vics opened the scoring with 18 minutes on the clock.

The Perth side had to battle to get a grip of the contest but managed to level as half-time approached.

Paddy Deane was successful from the penalty spot.

But it was not until the 78th minute that the winner arrived when Sean Ferrie, who rejoined the club on Thursday, finished well at the back post.

Coupar Angus, meanwhile, lost 2-0 away at Dundee Downfield.
