Plans at golf club

-

Perth’s Craigie Hill Golf Club is hoping to reinvent itself as a sports and community hub.

Members of the club’s transition committee are eager to map-out plans to Fair City residents at consultation drop-in events next week.

The redevelopment proposals can be viewed and discussed at the clubhouse onthursday, April 20, from 2-8pm and Sunday, April 23, from 1-4pm.

Transition committee chief David Mitchell has joined others leafleting in the neighbourhood.

The golf club is determined to arrest a declining membership by tapping into the trend towards nine-hole courses and create a wider community sporting hub for the people of Perth.

“In 2019 our members agreed to sell part of the site for housing and become a nine-hole golf course,”david explained.

“We are now a not-for-profit entity and have drawn-up ambitious plans to redevelop the clubhouse.

“We have encouraged various partners to get involved to help us become a community sports hub for the local area and work with others to create a new community facility on site. This process has been moving forward with support from Scottish Golf and with our development partner Kilmac.

“Recently we submitted a Proposal of Application Notice to Perth and Kinross Council, noting our intention to submit a planning application for the site. The aim is to release land for housing which will fund the reconfiguration of the golf course and deliver redevelopment of the existing clubhouse into a family orientated community sports hub.”

Golf club members are being updated at a meeting arranged for Wednesday at 7.30pm.

“We’d love our community to join us and help achieve a fantastic new sporting community environment for us all to enjoy,”said David.
