Blair will need to up their game to earn bragging rights

-

Blairgowrie will need to hit top form to earn a positive result in tomorrow’s Perthshire derby, manager Mark Brash believes.

His side makes the short trip to Coupar Angus in the Midlands League where local bragging rights are always very much on the line.

Just three points separate the teams in the table at present and a tight encounter is expected at Foxhall Park.

Speaking earlier this week, Brash told the PA: “It’s a derby game this week so everyone is looking forward to that.

“Coupar have been much improved this season so we will need to be at our best to get a result.”

Blairgowrie were without a fixture last weekend while Coupar went down 2-0 away at Dundee North End.

Brash added: “The boys had last weekend off but are raring to go and to prepare for this weekend’s match. The squad is carrying a few knocks and suspensions so it will be late selection for Saturday.”

Elsewhere in the Midlands League tomorrow afternoon, Letham are looking to bounce back from a 5-0 defeat against league leaders Broughty Athletic last weekend.

The Perth side had no fewer than 12 players unavailable for that fixture but battled well and, at the break, were only trailing by a solitary goal.

While chances were still being created, the performance fell away in the second half allowing Broughty to run out comfortable winners. Letham face another stiff test tomorrow afternoon with a trip through to Dundee to take on Downfield.

Scone Thistle are also in the City of Discovery and will face off against Lochee Harp.
