Plea for votes in Help Your Community Grow competition

Dobbies’perth store is inviting local residents to cast their vote and help crown the Helping Your Community Grow winner for the Perthshire garden centre branch.

Voting is only open for a few more days and closes on Tuesday, April 25.

Nationally over 800 applications have come in.

Two local names are in the running: Luncarty Nursery and Primary and UHI Perth.

Only one of these, whichever gets the most votes, will get the support.

Pupils and staff at Luncarty Nursery and Primary are looking to continue the development of the outdoor area in the nursery, and hope to give children the chance to gain hands on experience in growing their own plants, fruits and vegetables.

If successful with Dobbies’support, the team hope to receive plant and flower seeds, alongside equipment and products to help them grow their own produce.

UHI Perth is in partnership with Mindspace, a mental health charity based in Perth, to provide a safe space for people to learn.

Hoping to create a wellbeing garden with Dobbies’support, the group are requesting flowers and bulbs, alongside seating options and planting pots and boxes.

The winning group for Perth will receive advice, gardening products and plants from Dobbies’horticultural team. Dobbies’own-brand peat-free multipurpose compost, recycled and recyclable containers, Uk-sourced plants and safer pest control products are among the many products the garden centre will donate.
