Success on menu for restaurants

- STAFF REPORTER

Perth’s restaurant scene has again had the spotlight turned in its direction.

That was after two Fair City businesses - The Everest Inn and Sidhu’s - scooped accolades at the Scottish Curry Awards.

The Indian Restaurant of the Year Central Scotland went to the friendly folk at North Methven Street-based Everest Inn.

Bhola Khanal and his dedicated team have become no strangers to award success through the years and will now add this latest achievement to their growing haul of prizes.

The team at the Everest Inn had a message of thanks to all of their customers.

“This wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing customers who have been with us every step of the way,” the restaurant posted.

“And our talented chefs, manager, and team who work tirelessly to deliver the best Indian cuisine in Scotland. We are beyond grateful and can’t wait to celebrate with all of you.

“Thank you for your unwavering support, and here’s to many more delicious moments together.”

The Everest Inn was not the only local business celebrating success.

Delighted to be crowned New Restaurant of the Year at the award ceremony was Sidhu’s, based on County Place and serving up quality Indian cuisine.

While understandably thrilled, owner Satinder Singh Sidhu - known to many as Sid - revealed he also could not believe they had won the award just four months after opening.

Bringing the trophy back to the Fair City went down as a “great achievement” and, again, the customers were thanked for their backing.

Satinder has high hopes for Sidhu’s and, speaking to the PA after opening, had said: “I want to make this a Michelin star Indian restaurant.”

The Scottish Curry Awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 2 at The Marriott Hotel in Glasgow, with more than 400 guests in attendance.

The “prestigious” event recognised and celebrated the talents and hard work of individuals and businesses within the Scottish curry industry.

These awards celebrate Scotland’s “rich and diverse” curry culture and encourages the continued growth and evolution of the industry.

Organisers said the winners have distinguished themselves with their exceptional quality, innovation and consistency in offering a truly memorable dining experience.

A spokesperson for The 15th Scottish Curry Awards 2023 explained: “It has been an unforgettable night, filled with incredible food, vibrant energy, and passionate conversations.

“We have celebrated the finest in the Scottish curry scene, recognising the creativity, innovation, and exceptional service that have become synonymous with this beloved cuisine.

“The curry industry is a vital part of our culture, and these awards recognised the exceptional talents of the individuals and businesses that make it so special.

“Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, and thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event.”
