It was ‘ale’ to play for with brill rugby action and more on 10th anniversary
Hundreds of parched punters turned out in record numbers to celebrate the return of Perth Beer Festival for its 10th anniversary.
The weekend ‘kegged’ off on Friday night in the event marquee at North Inch with the sell-out Perth Comedy Night, headlined by Des Clarke and Perthshire’s comedic farmer Jim Smith.
Then on Saturday the overcast weather could not dampen the spirits of whose who packed out the Perth Beer Festival, with a wide selection of beers and gins available.
Visitors enjoyed live music in the marquee whilst outside in the park spectators were able to watch the thrilling 7s rugby tournament featuring men, women and veterans’ teams and enjoy the family-friendly activities.
Allan Brown, organiser and chief executive of Perthshire Rugby, said: “We’re delighted that our 10th Perth Beer Festival has been such a great success. From year one, our aim has been
to fundraise providing a warm welcome, a great offer and great entertainment at our home, the North Inch Park.
“So much goes in to putting on an event like this. I’d like to thank Tan International, our main sponsor, our fantastic team of hard-working volunteers, and the many businesses who support our event.
“Most importantly, I’d like to thank the many guests who bought tickets.”
He added: “I’d also like to congratulate Perthshire Rugby’s Women team in reaching the Bowl
Final at Murrayfield on Saturday.
“We’re very proud of their success. We have a great team spirit at Perthshire Rugby and I’m proud - our club is thriving.”
Perth Beer Festival closed with another sell-out Big Bash finale party on Saturday, featuring Glasgow band Circus.
The hard work of the volunteers continued into Sunday with the Perthshire Mini Festival of rugby which attracted over 950 young people.
