Affordable flats earmarked for hospital site
Plans are being drawn up for five blocks of four/five-storey affordable flats on the site of a former Perth hospital.
First Endeavour LLP has submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to build the blocks of flats on land which formed part of the former Hillside Hospital on Perth’s Dundee Road.
The NHS facility was closed in 1997 and has since been demolished.
In October 2022 Perth and Kinross Council approved plans - submitted by Westerwood - for a care home to be built on the northern part of the site.
The latest plans - submitted by applicant First Endeavour LLP are for the southern part of the site.
A pre-application report of the latest proposal went before PKC’S planning and placemaking committee on Wednesday, May 17.
Bailie Mike Williamson raised a safety concern about the site being so close to the railway line.
He said:“i was just wondering if Network Rail would have comments to make on the development and minimising or preventing access from the bottom end of the site perhaps”.
The convener said he was sure Network Rail would take that into consideration.
Bailie Claire Mclaren called for a need to“ensure adequate storage areas for household waste bins”given Perth and Kinross households will be allocated with an additional recycling bin later this year.
A consultation event was held at Kinnoull Parish Church on April 25. The next public consultation event is due to take place at Kinnoull Parish Church on June 20 from 4-7pm.
All four Perth City Centre councillors and Bridgend, Gannochy and Kinnoull Community Council have been notified.
