Arrests made over break-ins and car thefts

A teen and a young man have been arrested and charged in connection with a series of break-ins and motor vehicle thefts across Tayside, including an incident in Coupar Angus.

Commercial premises, homes and vehicles in the Dundee, Broughty Ferry and Birkhill areas were also targeted according to reports to police over the past fortnight.

Following extensive enquiries involving specialist officers from CID, response and road policing, two males, aged 18 and 20, were arrested and charged in connection with a number of these incidents.

They appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday, May 22.

Enquiries remain ongoing into these other incidents and further arrests are expected.

Detective Chief Inspector Keith Duncan, Tayside CID, said:“i would urge everyone to remain vigilant with regards to their premises and property and bring any concerns to our attention.

“If anyone with a commercial premises feels they would benefit from a visit from one of our crime prevention officers, please get in touch for this to be arranged.

“Officers are carrying out regular patrols of the area and I would like to reassure the public.”
