30.05.2023
The Rotary Club of Auchterarder and District held a special event to recognise the achievements of the area’s young people recently.
A number of accolades were presented at the ceremony, which was held on Thursday, April 27, at Auchterarder Golf Club.
Sports awards were presented in partnership with local group Auchterarder Community Sport and Recreation (ACSR).
Auchterarder Camera Club judged the Young Photographer competition.
Jim Irving, president-elect of the Rotary Club of Auchterarder and District, handed over the prizes on the night.
ACSR development manager Tim Hart said: “We were delighted to once again partner with Rotary in Auchterarder and District as they celebrated their annual awards with a ceremony on an evening which showcased the very best efforts and achievements of young people within the region.
“While ACSR was supporting the Young Sportsperson of the Year 2022 section of the evening, the awards covered a much wider range of activities – with young musicians, photographers, writers and a local primary school all being recognised too.”
In terms of the sports awards, Auchterarder’s Laura Watt was named Young Sportsperson of the Year following a year which saw her win the World Junior Curling Championships in March as part of Team Henderson.
Those behind Strathearn Youth Darts Academy recently purchased four Samsung tablet computers following a donation by the Rotary Club and were presented with them on the night.
