- ROBBIE CHALMERS LATEST RESULTS

Jeanfield Swifts bounced back from their midweek derby defeat with a 4-0 win away at Tynecastle on Saturday.

Captain Aaron Whitehead netted twice with Dayle Robertson and Gary Fergus also getting on the scoresheet.

The convincing win was the perfect tonic for the Premier Division outfit following a 1-0 defeat to Luncarty at the Riverside on Wednesday.

It was Swifts first home loss of the 2023/24 league season.

But two-goal Whitehead hailed his teammates’“fantastic reaction”on Saturday afternoon.

“It was a good result for us,”he said. “It was important that we put things right after a disappointing result on Wednesday. It was a fantastic reaction from the team.

“We are still pushing for the league and although it’s now a tough ask we won’t give it up.”

Speaking about his goals the defender explained: “It felt good to get two goals – although it’s shame I couldn’t cap it off with a third!

“They were both headers from two great deliveries into the box from Scott Smith.

“It’s an area where I don’t feel I’ve done enough this season so it was good to be able to contribute in attack as well as getting the clean sheet.

“A good game all round.”

Manager Robbie Holden stressed to his players to remember the fundamentals of the game.

“The gaffer was happy, he asked us before the game to get back to doing the basics well and insisting that the results will follow and I believe we did exactly that,”added Whitehead.

“The guys worked tirelessly for the full 90 minutes all over the park and we were unlucky not to add to the four first -half goals.

“It sets us up nicely for another tough game at home to Dunbar on Saturday, where we will hope to put in another good performance and pick up another win.”
