Call up for U-18 Six Nations

-

Two pupils at Crieff’s Morrison’s Academy have been called up to the Scotland U18 squad set to compete in this year’s Six Nations Festival.

Forward Harry Blackie and back Henry Armstrong, both of whom are also on the books at Glasgow Warriors, were called-up by head coach Ross Miller this week.

The 26-player squad is captained by Joe Roberts, of Robert Gordon’s College and Dundee Rugby, and will play three games across eight days in the Italian city of Parma.

Scotland open their campaign against Georgia on Saturday, March 30, before facing England on Wednesday, April 3, and hosts Italy on Sunday, April 7.

Head coach Ross said: “Preparations have been going really well, and the players and staff are very much looking forward to the experience in Parma.

“The group has been excellent to work with, and we’ve seen real progress in the training and matches we’ve had so far.

“The Six Nations Festival gives the players the chance to develop and progress against international opponents, which will give the players valuable experience to support their future development.”

Scott Weston is director of sport at Morrison’s Academy and described the duo’s call-ups as a coup for the independent school.

He declared:“i am absolutely delighted that Harry and Henry have been chosen to play as part of the U18 squad for the Six Nations in Italy next week.

“They’ve worked hard and shown unwavering commitment to the team this season and we’re all very proud of them.

“The Six Nations Festival gives them the opportunity to test themselves against international opponents and further develop their skills.

“We’ll all be cheering them on and wish them the best of luck.”

All matches will be live on the Scottish Rugby website.

The Georgia game starts at 11am, while kick-off against England is 1.15pm and it’s a 5.45pm start against Italy.
