RETOUCH ON MOBILE

-

Use Lightroom mobile, or a similar app, to process your images on a portable device

1 IMPORT YOUR IMAGES

Import images directly from your mobile device to make your files available locally. Once in your Library, organise them into albums. Click on an image’s thumbnail to open the image in the editing window.

2 SET BLACK AND WHITE POINTS

Tap the three dots icon in the top-right of the screen and move the Show Histogram slider to the right. Go to the Light tab at the bottom and move the Blacks and Whites until the tones almost touch the graph edges.

3 CURVE CONTROL

Click on the Curve icon or button to access a fully editable tone curve, and use this as you would the desktop version. It can be tricky to correctly place points, so we recommend tapping once to add a point and then dragging it to reposition it.

4 COLOR GRADING

If Curves is difficult to handle, you can use the Color Grading dialog. Add colour to the Highlights, Midtones and Shadows, then use Luminance, Blending and Balance to customise the effect.

5 SHARPNESS AND DETAIL

Pinch to zoom in on the image, and use the Detail tab to add sharpening and noise reduction. Small screens make images appear sharper, so compensate for this if you’re planning to print images.

6 OUTPUT

Choose the export option that offers the greatest control over file quality – the basic ‘Save to device’ option often gives you limited customisation options. Output at the highest resolution and lowest compression possible. Back up final images on the phone’s memory card, or online.
