Our feet are on show during the summer, when flip flops and sandals are the go-to footwear. Follow these tips to keep your toes tip top:

Let them breathe It’s a good habit to take off your shoes when you get home and give your feet a breather. Otherwise, sweat that builds up in your shoes during the day will continue to wear on your feet. By leaving sweat and dirt on your feet for longer than necessary, you’re creating a breeding ground for diseases.

Give them a scrub After you’ve soaked them, give your feet a scrub to smooth rough or dry areas. Use a foot scrub, or you can take your feet out of the water and use a pumice stone, going along with the grain of your feet. Remember, a pumice stone is more effective when your feet are still damp.

Soak your feet To remove dead skin from your feet, all you need is a bucket of warm water. Add some olive oil and a few drops of scented essential oils for additional luxury. Soak your feet for about 15 minutes – don’t leave them in for too long, as your feet will become

pruned. Moisturising treatment For baby soft feet, invest in a good foot cream. As the skin on your feet is thicker than the rest of the body, you’ll need a thicker cream. Choose one with vitamin E and coconut oil to keep them at their smoothest. For an overnight treatment, moisturise then put on a pair of cotton socks. Your feet will feel much softer in the morning.
