Pick Me Up! Special

Take back control

-

The Balance Coach, Helen Hopkins, says that breaking habits can be the first step.

LEARN TO SAY NO

This can be tough, especially if you’re used to running around after everyone. Start with the small things – like asking family to pick up laundry off the floor, or to take their dishes to the sink. Handing over these little responsibilities will feel like progress and then you can work on bigger things.

GET ON THE MOVE

A busy life can often lead to a busy head which means only one thing: lack of clarity. Take time to clear your mind with exercise and movement – even if it’s a short walk at lunchtime. It is a simple way to give you the focus needed for every day decision making.

DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO

Don’t fancy watching the same film as your partner? Prefer a meal out instead of a drink in the pub? Then do it. You have as much control as the other person and have the right to make a decision that you are happy with rather than going along with something you

really don’t want to do.

SELF-CARE

In order to look out for others, you need to care for yourself. Take a bath, treat yourself to some candles or even buy yourself some flowers. If life has taken its toll, it’s time to ensure you re-prioritise and look at your diary to time block a date with yourself.
