Every year in Men­ton, France, the Fête du Citron, or Lemon Fes­ti­val, sees over 300 pro­fes­sion­als mak­ing gi­ant sculp­tures out of 145 tonnes of cit­rus fruits, draw­ing over 230,000 vis­i­tors. From 16 Fe­bru­ary to 3 March, flo­ral pro­ces­sions will be or­gan­ised on the Prom­e­nade du Soleil, with a mix­ture of cit­rusthemed floats, con­fetti, dancers and folk groups. Dur­ing the fes­ti­val, the Biovès Gar­dens are clad with cit­rus fruit, form­ing tem­po­rary sculp­tures in daz­zling yel­low and or­ange shades – some even reach heights of 10m!
