Endometriosis is a painful disorder in which the tissue that normally lines the inside of your uterus (the endometrium) grows outside your uterus. It functions normally, causing excessive bleeding, and the pains can be mistaken for menstrual cramps. Other symptoms can include pain during sex and when urinating, as well as infertility.
