Should I stop the wedding?

My sister is about to marry a man I can’t stand. She always picks the wrong guys and I pick up the pieces – but a wedding is serious! Shall I tell her she’s making a huge mistake? Alex, Gloucester

If she’s choosing men that aren’t right for her, perhaps there’s a deeper problem with her confidence or self-esteem. Sit her down and tell her sensitively that you’re worried about her, because you love her.

Your sister won’t forgive you for interfering in her relationship. And you need her to trust you, because from the sounds of it, this marriage is doomed to fail. No! Her choice of husband is none of your business I’m afraid. If she asks your advice then you are within your rights to tell her what you think, but your unsolicited opinion will only push her further towards this man and away from you. You are going to have to bite your tongue and love her through this. You never know, this man might make her very happy and if he doesn’t you will be there for her because that’s what sisters do. Try not to judge her too harshly; she just wants to be loved like we all do.
