MAWDDACH TRAIL
• Distance: 9.5 miles • Duration: 3-4 hours
Disused railway lines make great walking tracks, and this easy, well-marked trail along the southern edge of the Mawddach estuary makes for a gentle stroll from the market town of Dolgellau in north west Wales, through wetlands and across the railway bridge at Penmaenpool. Owned by the Snowdonia National Park, this route can be easily followed, is essentially flat, has a fairly even surface for most of its length, and is at least 3 metres wide, so is suitable for walkers, cyclists and wheelchair users.
