Pick Me Up!

Take Back Childhood Sweetheart?

- Kayleigh, 29, Nottingham

Irecently ran into my first boyfriend in town, and though we hadn’t seen each other for years, we still had a great time catching up.

We’ve been out a few times since then as friends, and things have become quite flirty. We’d broken up years earlier after he’d cheated on me, but he seems to have matured.

We’ve had some great times together recently, until he asked how I felt about starting things up again. I’m wary of going backwards, and whether I should trust him, but I’ve found myself considering it. Should I take back my first love?

yes

Pick Me Up! reader Mandy Cooper says, ‘He’s hurt you in the past, so I’d take things slowly. Tell him what he did really hurt you, and he’ll have to prove himself to you.

I don’t see any harm, as long as it’s on your terms. Don’t take any nonsense from him. Nothing has to happen now, so put yourself first.’

NO

Pick Me Up! reader Gemma Carrick says, ‘He messed you around once and he can do it again. Exes are exes for a reason, and this bloke deserves to be kept in the past. It may be difficult to just be friends, but keep your self-respect and say no.

This should make him realise just how wrong he was to mess you around the way he did. Look forwards, not backwards when it comes to relationships.’
