Pick Me Up!

Theresa spent her winnings on a luxury holiday with her friend

To be honest, I couldn’t help but wonder what all the fuss was about. A friend of mine was chatting away about a bingo site she’d just joined.

‘It’s so much fun,’ she smiled. I used to play bingo with my mates years ago. But life as a mum of four was busy and over the years I’d found less time to play.

Now the kids were grown-up

with lives of their own.

So I had more time to spare.

‘What’s the name of the site?’ I asked my pal, curious.

‘Pick Me Up! Bingo. You should give it a try,’ she replied.

So I did – I signed up and tried out a few of the brilliant games on offer.

There were lots to choose from, so I played a few demo games to see what I liked.

The other players in the chat room were friendly, too.

Just shout if you get stuck, someone offered.

But I quickly got the hang of things.

Sapphire became my favourite game.

And I loved the slot game Rainbow Riches, too.

Then, one day in May 2016, I won £5 on the site.

Great, I thought, buying myself a few tickets for Sapphire Bingo.

And, before I knew it, I was in the lead to win.

Suddenly, I only needed one more number.

Then, when I saw it get checked off, my heart burst from my chest. ‘Bingo!’ I shouted. When I realised I’d won £900, I did a little dance around the room.

I’d just a booked a holiday to Tenerife with a friend and was due to jet off in a few weeks.

I’ll treat myself while I’m out there, I decided.

While I was away, I enjoyed some lovely meals out and cocktails by the pool.

We had such a lovely time, we wanted to go again. ‘Maybe next year, we’ll book another holiday,’ I said.

Meanwhile, I still played bingo every now and then, when I had time.

In August this year, I bought myself some tickets for Sapphire.

But, while the games played out, I started pottering about the house.

I forgot all about them.

Then, a few hours later, I remembered my tickets and had a quick check to see if I’d won anything. When I looked, I couldn’t believe my eyes!

I’d actually scooped the £1,000 jackpot.

‘No way!’ I gasped.

Sure enough, the money was already in my account.

It wasn’t until a giant cheque arrived in the post that it finally sank in.

I told my daughter and she took a picture of me holding the cheque.

‘Say bingo!’ she laughed, snapping away.

I was so pleased, I couldn’t stop smiling.

My friend and I had been chatting about going back to Tenerife.

So I used my winnings to pay for that.

We jet off this month and I can’t wait.

Sun, sea and sangria, here I come!

When I sip cocktails on the beach, I’ll raise a glass to Pick Me Up! Bingo.

Cheers!

I WON ENOUGH TO PAY FOR my BEACH BREAK! It finally sank in when the giant cheque arrived
