in 2010, a man from Seattle, USA, was nicknamed The Santa Claus Burglar after he tried to break into a house by climbing down the chimney.
Hapless Shon Shanell, 23, got himself firmly wedged and had to be rescued by fire fighters.
When he was freed from the chimney after nearly six hours, his surprised rescuers found that Shanell was completely naked. He claimed that he got stuck after trying to retrieve his rucksack, which a friend had thrown into the chimney.
However, the jury didn’t buy the bare burglar’s blarney, and Shanell was jailed for 17 months.
