Pick Me Up!

Little Pick Me Ups!

Bonnie’s fabulous, festive nuptials

-

It’d got to the point in my life where the wheels just weren’t turning any more. It was 2010, I was 32 – and still hadn’t met the right man. ‘Why not try online dating?’ my mum Vanessa, then 63, said to me.

So I logged onto the dating site eharmony – and got some fruity messages at first!

And, yes, some people I met were lovely, just not for me.

So I’d almost given up on the whole dating thing... when I got a message from a man named Steve, aged 35.

I love your smile, it read. My heart melted as I blushingly read his words.

Steve was tall, dark and very handsome. But his messages had lots of spelling mistakes…

Still, that was no big deal, really!

He was in Essex, not that far away from my home.

After a week of messaging, we met for a gig, went to see The Good The Bad.

It was love at first sight and we kissed all night.

The rest, as they say, is history!

After eight months, Steve moved in. It was as if we’d known each other forever.

Then, in 2012, I accidentally fell pregnant with our daughter Olivia.

It was a shock, but it made Steve and I realise just how much we loved each other.

He proposed to me on a Norfolk beach in October 2014.

‘Yes!’ I whooped.

I threw myself straight into wedding planning.

‘I’d really love a winter wedding,’ I announced.

We loved red wine, log fires, Christmas… He had to agree! On 20 December 2015, we got married in Greenwich.

It was a beautiful, crisp winter’s day.

There was hearty food, fairy lights, and everyone was happy h and d relaxed ld – perfect! f !

Although, looking back, I suppose we probably shouldn’t have had the wedding the week before Christmas... It was manic!

Still, we jetted off to Antigua for a relaxed honeymoon.

Now we’ve bought a house – and Olivia, 5, has been joined by Sam, 2. Life’s wonderful. Who’d have thought online dating would bring me the man of my dreams?

I really do have all I want for Christmas.
