In the last few years, has there been an increase in homeschooling tutors?

Definitely! Homeschooling has become an increasingly popular choice for parents, and we’ve seen a demand for tutoring rise alongside that. We now have some tutors who cater specifically to homeschooled students. If we look back only 5 years ago, there weren’t enough homeschooled children for tutors to make a living focusing exclusively on homeschool tuition.

What do you think the reason is for this?

The biggest reason for the rise in homeschool tutoring is that children still need personalised support, especially if they don’t have regular access to a teacher. There is a lot of excellent content out there, but children often need guidance, support, and some structure to their learning. Working with a one-to-one tutor can give that to them.

How can private tutors help homeschoolers?

Tutoring is usually focused on an end result. Where possible, a couple of hours with a tutor can really help to keep kids engaged. It adds structure to the day and also takes the pressure off parents who are no doubt feeling stressed with the added pressure of trying to homeschool.

All of our tutors have their areas of expertise. You can choose from thousands of tutors who offer tuition in more than 300 subjects. From history and English to maths or a musical instrument. We will match you with the top tutors in the country.

What are the most popular tutored lessons amongst homeschoolers?

The most popular online lesson for the past few weeks has been maths, closely followed by English, then languages such as French and Spanish. The popularity of these subjects may be because they are topics many people, especially parents, don’t feel confident in teaching entirely themselves.
