1.Repair, don’t replace

Chipped or damaged sinks and baths can cost a fortune to replace, but why replace them if they can be fixed for a much lower cost?

There are lots of repair kits on the market that will help cover any damage, all without having to pay a tradesman – some for as little as £20!

2.Show some TLC

For the cost of some furniture paint and a few hours of your time, you can give tired or past-their-best items a new lease of life.

Ronseal’s Chalky Furniture Paint is great for reviving drawers, chairs, tables, or even storage boxes.

3.Be waste aware

Don’t throw away leftover product – it’s easier to re-use than you think. Most paints can be stored until the next year or kept for any year-round touch-ups.

Just make sure it’s stored in an air-tight container and kept in a shed or room between 10-30OC.

4.Get stuck in

A little elbow grease goes a long way, so take your time to prepare surfaces before you start your DIY.

This will also make products work better, last longer, and as a result make your money go further in the long run. Watch guides on Youtube to help you get it right first time round.

5.Choose long-term options

For big jobs like looking after sheds or maintaining fences, choosing a product that provides long-term protection will keep costs down, because you wont have to invest again for several years.

Look out for paint options that have a range of 5-10 year guarantees!

6. Spruce up those cupboards

If you want to change your kitchen or bathroom but you’re on a tight budget, specialist paint is the answer.

Tile paint or cupboard paint can completely transform rooms for less than £100 – much less than the cost of a new kitchen.

It’s easy to do and you can have a brand new look in a weekend!
