Belting out yet another musical number onstage, the atmosphere was amazingly electric. Ever since I can remember, singing had been my therapy.

Whilst some people meditated, I sang.

I loved the way it immediately calmed me down and brought me right into the present moment.

So much so, that I eventually won a scholarship at one of the top performing arts colleges, and made it into the West End.

Performing for five years, 10 hours a day, I really was living and breathing my childhood dream.

However, in 2013, I realised it was time to start settling down with my wife and having a family of our own.

Yet I still had the itch to share the joy of singing with other people.

How can singing still be a big part of my life? I thought.

That’s when I came up with the idea to set up a studio in my spare bedroom so that I could start coaching those with a similar passion.

I filled the room up with keyboards and microphones to make it the perfect musical haven for all of my clients.

Coaching six to seven days a week, it was so rewarding sharing my knowledge of the music industry with likeminded people.

In 2019 I decided to set up a local adult choir to bring people in the community together, and I honestly haven’t looked back since!

I have now set up multiple branches all across the UK in locations such as York, Brighton and Exeter to name a few, run by other professional West End singers.

Joining forces with fellow West End singers means we can share the joy of singing with even more people.

‘This is the favourite part of our day,’ people say before we begin our sessions together.

I began to research the science behind singing and it just confirmed to me how wonderful for your mental health and nervous system it is.

Singing does wonders for your mind and body!

During the pandemic, my classes were obviously forced to move online but I really missed being in a room filled with singers.

Covid was a scary time for the performing arts industry, but I am so thrilled to say that all my choirs will be coming together next year to perform in Cadogan Hall in London!

My ultimate dream is to get everyone together for a big sing song in The Royal Albert Hall.

I encourage anyone who likes singing to get involved!

Listening as my choirs harmonise together each day truly is music to my ears.

Some people meditate but I sing
