Pick Me Up!

Behind the scenes

-

P utting pen to paper, I always loved creating magic at Christmas.

Living next door to my lovely nan, and having the same routine each year, I couldn’t help but want to spread some festive cheer.

So, writing handmade letters, with every detail I knew about my friends and family, I created something truly special.

‘You could turn this into a business you know…’ one of my friends said one day, after finding out that I had been the one planting the white envelopes.

It was a great idea – only I wasn’t sure how I would manage to do it.

Only, as time went on and I taught myself everything there was to know about starting a small business from scratch, how to make my own website, and manage the social media side of everything, A Magical Letter was born.

This way, adults, children, and even pets could get a response from Santa that they had dreamed of.

Rather than their name just being replaced in a standard block of text.

Creating a form asking everything from a favourite TV show, toy, book, to then if they had any siblings, allergies, have moved house recently, and faced any hardship, I was able to craft something truly magical.

And in the mean time I learnt everything there was to know about so many individuals everywhere.

Since starting back in 2018, the reception has just been incredible.

‘How on earth did he know all that?’ my kids laugh, surprised when they receive their own letter from Santa.

I mean I wanted it to sound like the real deal!

There have been some cute requests, such as a little girl who calls the big man Santa Christmas, and then there have been some odd ones...

People asking me to write a nostalgic letter to their dead pet – it’s a mixed bag!

But it is definitely a privilege to say the least.

Who knew that my writing habits would land me a job as Santa’s little helper!
