acted in solitude rage – as according to police documents, the prior incident in July 2021, Jessica had stated that ‘she was afraid of her safety and afraid to go back home because she was unsure what Brent is capable of’.

With Jessica being treated for depression in a local mental health facility, Brent had agreed to look after her dog for her.

Only when returning to the property, Brent revealed that he had in fact taken Jessica’s dog to a farm, refusing to tell her where, as he ‘didn’t want to take care of her dog anymore’ – a snippet perhaps into Brent’s flippant behaviour. Court papers revealed after Brent was arrested that July, that he had hit Jessica over the head. And it was then that just five months later, Brent savagely showed what he was capable of – murder.

Again hitting Jessica over the head, yet this time with a fatal force, just as he had done with his own flesh and blood. For what seemed like no other reason than acting in a blind fit of rage. Entering a plea deal in

September last year, Brent admitted guilt, avoiding the death penalty and a trial – something that left Clyde and Jessica’s family devastated.

Refusing to speak, Brent Hanson, 57, was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole for brutally murdering his brother, sister-in-law and their unborn baby – showing no signs of remorse.

‘Jessica and Clyde were kind, modest people and devout Christians. Shocked and distraught do not begin to describe the condition the family is in,’ loved ones had written on a Gofundme page set up in an attempt to raise money for the couple’s surviving three-year-old.

Walking into the police department that morning, just the week before Christmas Day, Brent entered with a festive card and left with a completely sour confession.

It was meant to be a time of love and goodwill.

He knew full well that his calm demeanour was simply a cruel façade.

Instead of embracing his family at Christmas time, he ended their life with the flip of a switch.

Snapping and acting in rage, he murdered his own flesh and blood.

Something he will be forever reminded of behind bars as winter looms.
