Christmas Tree Napkins

Ialways seem to feed the five thousand on Christmas Day, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! These Christmas tree napkins are a must, especially if you’re looking to add a touch of magic to your Christmas table without spending a ton of money. After all, most of us have a set of fabric napkins that we pull out for the big day and this folding technique is so quick that, once you’ve mastered it, it’s something you can do the night before. These napkins look lovely on their own, but picking up some cinnamon sticks (which are really inexpensive) to tuck underneath as tree trunks will take your presentation to the next level.

You will need:

◻ Fabric napkins (I’ve used 20” x 20”) ◻ Cinnamon sticks

◻ Ribbon or twine (optional)

1.Smooth out your napkin on a hard, flat surface (step A).

2. Fold the napkin in half lengthways (step B).

3. Fold it in half again so that you are left with a square. Make sure the corners are completely lined up and there are no wrinkles in the fabric.

4. Turn your napkin towards you so that the four separate layers are directly in front of you rather than the one folded corner (step C). 5. Fold up the corner of each layer, one at a time, making sure to stagger them equally (step D).

6. Slide one hand under the napkin and place the other on top, so that the fabric is sandwiched between your hands. Flip it over (steps E and F).

7. Fold both the left and right outer corners towards the centre. One should sit on top of the other (steps G, H and I).

8. Flip the napkin over again

(step J).

9. Fold each of the corners up. After the first corner has been folded, tuck the remaining corners under the previous one (step K). 10. Once all of the corners have been tucked under (step L), pop a cinnamon stick underneath the napkin to give a tree-trunk effect. Tie a bow around the cinnamon with ribbon or twine for an extra wow factor.
