Q&A TIME WITH…
Friends Karen Passmore and Daniel Putman who are both LEGO superfans!
1. Why is LEGO so special to you – what is your earliest memory? KAREN SAYS:
I first got into LEGO around 2005, due to a partner I was with at the time. He was into LEGO Technic, cars, cranes and my personal favourite, the LEGO Racer series including F1 cars.
I like LEGO as it exercises the brain and your dexterity. It’s also a hobby you can pick up and put down whenever you like, except when you use a wrong part in building – that’s frustrating as hell! DANIEL SAYS:
I remember playing with LEGO as a child, building it at the kitchen table with my dad and grandad.
I got back into LEGO around 10 years ago as I missed doing it from my childhood and there were not many kits aimed at adults in 2012.
But xnxoxwxxixcan sit down with my daughters Freya, five, and Ellie, two, recreating the memories I had with my father and grandad.
2. What would you say to anyone who wants to start building but isn’t sure where to start?
KAREN SAYS:
LEGO is a hobby, an addiction, a great building experience. It’s also a family of worldwide enthusiasts who can chat for hours! You can literally make anything with LEGO, a house, a giant Christmas tree or even a full-size car that can be driven. It’s a magical world.
However, the worst part of LEGO is the feeling you get when you step on a brick barefoot! DANIEL SAYS:
No matter you age, LEGO is for anyone.
It’s a stressful experience at times but always rewarding when you see what you have a built.
Plus, you can do it with your kids and even your partner as I say couples who LEGO together always stay together!
3. How much money have you spent on your collection overall?
KAREN SAYS:
Ouch, it hurts just thinking about it. Let’s just say a new car would be a lot cheaper!
DANIEL SAYS:
I would hate to imagine but I would say over £3,000+ in total.
