If you need a little inspiration for your first scrapbooking page or don’t know where to start, follow this easy step by step guide by Shimelle to create an outdoorsy layout.

1. Gather your supplies, including your printed photos, scissors, adhesive, pens and the pretty papers you like best. For an outdoors inspired page, I’ve chosen papers with clouds and leaves and grid paper.

2. Build a simple background. Here, I’ve used the clouds as a full page, then cut a strip of green for the bottom of the page. The strip of grid paper will be where your writing goes. 3. Find the placement you would like for your photos and large elements. This may take some playing around with, or you can follow my placement here for a structured design.

4. Add more colour. Mounting your photos onto colourful paper and adding labels are both quick and easy ways to inject a little colour.

5. It’s time for words! I use letter stickers for most of my titles and write directly onto my pages. But if handwriting makes you nervous, you can always print out typed letters. Don’t forget that handwritten notes can show a little bit of you and adds a personal touch! 6. Now, you can evaluate three areas which need a little more embellishment. You can add extra dimension and layers to your elements by using stickers and cut out shapes around your larger elements.

7. Finish off the page with a little confetti and remember, a little does go a long way. Here, I’ve gone for some small diamond embellishments placed in the corners to give a little energy to the page.
