Pick Me Up!

One in a MILLION!

This week, we’re feeling the love spread by Sebbie Hall, 20, from Lichfield. His mum Ashley, 53, said…

Producing a red rose from his pocket, just like a magician, I watched as my son presented it with a smile. Sebbie, now 20, was on a mission to spread kindness, and what better way to do so than by giving 100 ladies a gorgeous red rose – all within one hour.

‘This is an act of kindness,’ he said, carefully taking his time with his words.

Sebbie was born with a rare chromosome anomaly, so he struggled with his speech and learning.

But that never held him back.

The lady burst into tears as she accepted the rose.

My heart swelled – he’d been spreading kindness for three years now, but his acts always amazed me.

In March 2020, when the Covid lockdown hit and Sebbie’s schooling was moved online, he realised his best friend didn’t have a laptop. ‘I want to give him mine,’ Sebbie told me.

‘But then you won’t have one!’ I laughed.

Instead, he came up with a master plan – to do 100 acts of kindness in 10 days to raise enough money to buy his friend a laptop.

So, Sebbie offered to help the local community by delivering letters, mowing lawns and dropping off shopping, all for a small donation.

In a week, he raised £1,000! Only, his acts of kindness didn’t stop there.

After lockdown, Sebbie started doing daily acts of kindness.

From donating hundreds of warm winter coats to the homeless and toys to children’s homes, there’s nothing he won’t do.

And last year, he was even anonymously nominated for the UK’S Kindest Person Award – a competition run by KIND snacks.

Sebbie received so many nominations – we still don’t know who all of them are! In November 2023, Sebbie was crowned the winner.

He was commended with a celebratory statue of him, too.

To think that when Sebbie was born, doctors thought he would never walk or talk…

Now he’s defied every odd and then some. I couldn’t be prouder of him.

Last year, Sebbie extended his mission to spread kindness by founding his very own charity – The Sebbie Hall Kindness Foundation.

And now, he’s aiming to help others wherever he can.

After all, it takes just one small act of kindness to make a huge difference.

And Sebbie’s warm heart has a ripple effect – it’s hard not to feel the love.
