For­mer Siko­rsky Pres­i­dent dies in P-51 Mus­tang crash

Jeff Pino, for­mer Pres­i­dent of Siko­rsky Air­craft, was killed on 5 Fe­bru­ary when his P-51D Mus­tang Big Beau­ti­ful Doll crashed at Mari­copa, about 35 miles south of Phoenix, Ari­zona. His friend and fel­low pi­lot Ni­cholas Tra­mon­tano also died in the crash. The air­craft, which was al­most to­tally de­stroyed on im­pact and by post-crash fire, had struck the ground in a near ver­ti­cal at­ti­tude at high speed.

A for­mer US Army he­li­copter pi­lot, Pino spent seven­teen years with Bell He­li­copter be­fore join­ing Siko­rsky in 2002 and be­com­ing its Pres­i­dent in 2006. He re­tired in 2012 and bought the Mus­tang in 2014.
