Af­ter the flight I chat­ted with Steve and found out more about the busi­ness. It is ir­refutable that brand new four-seat tour­ers are quite ex­pen­sive, and with the TB-10 - which Steve de­scribes as ‘the Cirrus of its day’ - you have a well-de­signed, stur­dily made ‘semi-com­plex’ (i.e. fixed gear but CS prop) air­craft that is safe and easy to fly and can be quite easily re­fur­bished to a high­spec­i­fi­ca­tion. Steve is used to work­ing in hi-tech in­dus­tries (such as aerospace and nano tech­nolo­gies) and he is clearly the sort of man that ex­pects things to be “done right”. He’s so con­fi­dent that the re­furbed TB-10S of­fered by Cavendish Avi­a­tion are done right that the price in­cludes a gen­er­ous af­ter-sales ‘care pack­age’ that in­cludes the first year’s main­te­nance (labour only) and the sec­ond an­nual, en­sur­ing prospec­tive pur­chasers can rea­son­ably ex­pect no big (and ex­pen­sive) sur­prises.
