Albatros D.VA crash lands in Kent...

Pilot - - OLD TIMERS -

The Vintage Aviator Limited (TVAL) – built Albatros D.VA ZK-TGY was badly damaged in an emergency landing in a field between Pluckley and Bethersden, near Ashford, Kent on 15 September.

Keith Skilling was returning from France where he had made a flypast and poppy drop alongside a BE2C at the WWI Somme and ANZAC commemoration at Longueval, when the replica suffered a power loss. Unfortunately it struck a wire as he touched down and the aircraft turned over, crushing its starboard wings, and ended up inverted. Skilling was reported to be unhurt. Based at Stow Maries WWI airfield, the Albatros is on loan to the WWI Aviation Heritage Trust from the Oliver Wulff Collection.
