Fabulous show ‘downunder’ and news of other vintage aircraft

The Australian International Aerospace & Defence Exposition and Airshow 2017 or more succinctly ‘Airshow Downunder’ held at Avalon, Geelong, Victoria from 28 February to 5 March 2017, followed its usual pattern with three trade-only days followed by four public airshow days. With the trade show continuing, the large crowd was treated to a full flying display with significant military participation, a number of interesting warbirds, and privately-owned aerobatic aircraft. A large static display of vintage, veteran and classic types together with homebuilts and microlights added variety. As Nigel Hitchman illustrates here, there was an interesting selection of ‘old timers’ to be seen on the ground and in the air at this impressive airshow.
