The Light Air­craft Com­pany Ltd has a new EASA Sup­ple­men­tal Type Cer­tifi­cate for Sch­le­icher Glid­ers that will re­duce the costs and speed up re­cov­er­ing Ora­tex ma­te­ri­als. STC 10061236 con­firms that Ora­tex UL600 Mk3 may be used for cov­er­ing Sch­le­icher KA6, K7, Ka8, K10a, AS-K13 and ASK18 se­ries glid­ers, and that there is no longer any need for rib stitch­ing when the air­craft is cov­ered in ac­cor­dance with the Ora­tex Cov­er­ing man­ual Doc No. ADXC-51-001-AMM Edi­tion 6 or later. Paul Hendry-smith Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor of TLAC said, “The Ora­tex fac­tory has very clear ob­jec­tives for the fu­ture de­vel­op­ment of this ad­vanced air­craft cov­er­ing sys­tem — this is a sig­nif­i­cant step in re­duc­ing costs and re­duc­ing air­craft down­time for own­ers, op­er­a­tors and clubs.”
