Chinese Airbus H135 assembly plant under way
Construction has started on an Airbus Helicopters H135 Final Assembly Line (FAL) at Qingdao in China’s Shandong Province, with completion expected by 2018. It will assemble 100 H135s over a ten-year period, with the first due for roll-out in mid-2019. The FAL will have an annual production capacity of eighteen helicopters, with room for future growth. The new facility will be operated by Airbus Helicopters and Qingdao United General Aviation Company Limited, a joint venture between China Aviation Supplies Holding Company and Qingdao United General Aviation Industrial Development Company Limited. The H135 is one of the most popular light twin-engine helicopters in China, operating mainly in emergency medical services, search-and-rescue, law enforcement, firefighting and tourism.
