Chi­nese Air­bus H135 as­sem­bly plant un­der way

Con­struc­tion has started on an Air­bus He­li­copters H135 Fi­nal As­sem­bly Line (FAL) at Qing­dao in China’s Shan­dong Prov­ince, with com­ple­tion ex­pected by 2018. It will as­sem­ble 100 H135s over a ten-year pe­riod, with the first due for roll-out in mid-2019. The FAL will have an an­nual pro­duc­tion ca­pac­ity of eigh­teen he­li­copters, with room for fu­ture growth. The new fa­cil­ity will be op­er­ated by Air­bus He­li­copters and Qing­dao United Gen­eral Avi­a­tion Com­pany Limited, a joint ven­ture be­tween China Avi­a­tion Sup­plies Hold­ing Com­pany and Qing­dao United Gen­eral Avi­a­tion In­dus­trial De­vel­op­ment Com­pany Limited. The H135 is one of the most pop­u­lar light twin-en­gine he­li­copters in China, op­er­at­ing mainly in emer­gency med­i­cal ser­vices, search-and-res­cue, law en­force­ment, fire­fight­ing and tourism.
