EASA, FAA approve Skyhawk JT-A
EASA and the FAA have certified the Cessna Turbo Skyhawk JT-A, which is powered by a 155hp Continental CD-155 turbo diesel featuring direct fuel injection and dual channel FADEC controlled by a single power lever. Cessna says that the JT-A now has a range of 963nm, up 78nm over original estimates and double that of a standard avgas-burning Skyhawk. Maximum speed is increased to 134kt, takeoff distance is reduced to 1,320ft, maximum climb rate increased to 767fpm, and the aircraft also offers improved takeoff performance in hot-and-high conditions.
The diesel-engined JT-A has twice the range of the avgas-burning 172, will reach 134kt and climb at 767fpm
