Northern Ireland HEMS service launched
After twelve years of campaigning, Northern Ireland’s Air Ambulance service finally began operations in early August. From its base at the former Maze/long Kesh prison site near Lisburn the HEMS EC135 will be able to reach any part of the country within 25 minutes. A second EC135 will be based at St Angelo Airport in Enniskillen.
The service will be staffed by two pilots, six full-time paramedics and a team of fifteen doctors.
