RAF Transport Command A Pictorial History by Keith Wilsonber £14.99 Paperback, 95 pages, colour and black and white illustrations

The Royal Air Force Transport Command was created in March 1943. While the RAF had carried out the function previously, this formalised and recognised the role. Transport Command was to serve in and support many theatres, including the Berlin airlift, and delivery and/or collection of troops and equipment ranging from Kenya to Christmas Island. It was renamed Support Command in 1967. Keith Wilson’s book tells the story of Transport Command using a wealth of photographs rarely seen before. And judging by the rapt absorption of a friend of the reviewer (who normally has the attention span of a goldfish!) this book is fascinating and does what it says. JA
