The eponymous Hawker Hunter, which was one of the most popular on the British display circuit with its rainbow colour scheme and its registration G-PSST — Personal Supersonic Transport — has been sold to Canada. It was built in 1956 as F4 XF947 for the RAF but was sold back to Hawker for conversion to an F.58 for the Swiss Air Force, which mostly used it as a target-towing tug. Commencing in 1998, it delighted airshow crowds until Hunters were grounded following the Shoreham tragedy. Its sale price included another, non-airworthy, ex-swiss Air Force Hunter and engine.
