A ’copter by any other name…

At the recent inauguration of its new corporate/engineering facility in Zurich, Marenco Swiss Helicopter (MSH) renamed its SKYE SH09 ‘Kopter’. “The introduction of the Kopter name, logo and brand design is a decisive step that places the business as a potential leader in the marketplace. By simplifying the brand, Kopter will be better placed to tell the world its story,” explained the company’s Chief Executive Officer Andreas Loewenstein. “The distinctive branding will be accompanied by a bold new strapline that outlines the business’s everyday aim – and its ongoing vision – for missions accomplished.

“Our new name provides us with immediate recognition. It allows us to own a word that is synonymous with helicopter travel. As we are an unmistakably Swiss company, the use of a ‘K’ – instead of a ‘C’ – gives Kopter a strong, Swiss–germanic feel. It has a feeling of solidity and dependability – two things that are essential in our industry.”

At February’s Helicopter Association International Heli-expo in Las Vegas MSH was due to display the second prototype Kopter, along with a full-scale mockup equipped with an air medical interior developed in cooperation with Metro Aviation based in Shreveport, Louisiana. Prototype 3 (P3), is currently undergoing preparations before continuation of the flight test programme, and along with pre-series PS04 will jointly serve for EASA and FAA certification testing, with first customer deliveries scheduled for 2019.
