Airspace proposals 'unsafe'

Pilot - - NOTES -

The All-party Parliamentary Group has branded the proposed changes to London-oxford's and RAF Brize Norton's airspace as 'dangerous' and 'unsafe'. After receiving comments from Parliamentary colleagues, the public and airspace users, the APPG has made submissions to the two consultations highlighting 'widespread concern that the changes will damage the interests of the majority of those involved in general aviation'. APPG Chair, The Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP, said "...it’s important to realise that in trying to address safety concerns near these airfields, the measures would dramatically harm safety in the constricted areas just outside." The APPG has put forward alternative airspace designs addressing the operational needs of both RAF Brize Norton and London-oxford, without vastly expanding the existing area of controlled airspace.
