At May’s Helirussia 2018 exhibition in Moscow Russian Helicopters unveiled its VRT500 light multirole helicopter, which has been developed in collaboration with Vr-technologies. A light single-engined helicopter with coaxial rotors, it will accommodate five people, have an MTOW of 1,600kg, useful load of 730kg, a maximum speed of 250km/h, and maximum range of 860km. It will be available in passenger, multirole, cargo, training and HEMS configurations.

“We see the interest in the project both from Russian and foreign operators, and agreements on strategic partnership have already been signed as part of the programme on promotion of the helicopter on international markets, said Russian Helicopters’ Chief Executive Officer Andrey Boginsky. “We estimate that by 2035 we will sell about 1,000 helicopters, which will allow us to take up to fifteen per cent share of the world segment of light helicopters with weight up to two tons. Market analysis shows it is this helicopter class that will be the most large-scale.”
